About Us

Some things are easy to forget, others can live beside us for years. Maybe it's how we found them (or how they found us), how their surface has changed with years of use, or a memory of a meal they reignite in our mind.

Hand + Ember is an independent design studio based in LA. We design, source, and make things in small batches with natural materials in collaboration with artisans, workshops, and collectors. Our first collection is a collection of vintage and new pieces from Bali, Java, and Borneo. We love materials like fragrant vetiver root, charred mango wood, old terracotta, and cotton dyed by hand with plants like indigo leaf. 

We love the overlap of material, process, and daily use, and how those come together in the imperfect thing that's exactly right.
