About Us

Hand + Ember is a Los Angeles–based design studio that celebrates the intentionally made and collected.

Sprung from a fascination with craft traditions across Japan, India, the US, Mexico, and Indonesia, we love the overlap of material, process, and daily ritual. Hand + Ember is guided by a belief in intentional design, tactility, and satisfaction in imperfection. We want to live with things are made by humans and celebrate ingenuity, that connect us with the natural world and feel grounded and alive.

We work in small batch production using traditional methods whenever possible, including processes like plant dyes, hand-stamped batik, and weaving with natural materials like seagrass and rattan.

The collection will continue to expand into homewares, furniture, and lighting in 2026. Hand + Ember welcomes inquiries about collaborations, interior design projects, intentional sourcing, and thoughtfully curated collections. Please drop us a line at info(at)handandember.com

Arianna Petrich is a designer based in Los Angeles working across material-driven design, craft, and visual storytelling.

With a background in design and sculpture, she previously founded an independent jewelry brand, worked in artist studios in New York, and created installations as a visual storyteller in luxury retail environments.

At the same time, her preoccupying curiosity has always been around how objects are made and used. For over a decade, she has documented and returned to craft traditions, including the work of incense makers in Vietnam and Japan and artisanal textile, weaving, and dyeing practices in Indonesia and India. Her engagement with artisans is grounded in curiosity, respect, collaboration, and just plain old delight. Regardless of the place or the thing, she finds herself returning to the same questions: how do objects carry memory, how does a process shape meaning, and how can everyday rituals be an anchor for us?

Hand + Ember wants to weave these threads together to share them with you.
